Columbia Riverfront Park

The Columbia Riverfront Park runs alongside the historic Columbia Canal.  The 167-acre park is a very popular place for tourists and residents.  It was originally the site of the world’s first electrically operated textile mill, which still operates and is the oldest one in the state.  Visitors to the park can also learn about the history of the Columbia Canal and Water Works by taking a walk through one of the old pump houses.  It has a two and a half mile trail that is popular for walking, running and biking and with the markers posted along the way you can always tell how far you’ve gone.  Many people will come to Columbia Riverfront Park to spend the day picnicking since there are picnic tables located throughout.  If you have children, there’s a wonderful playground at the park.  Another popular activity at the park is fishing.  You can take advantage of the Columbia Canal is hopes of making a great catch.  The park is also home to a beautiful brick amphitheater.  Scattered throughout the park are terrific lookout points where you have great views of the rapids.  Admission at the park is always free and the park is open everyday from 7am-9pm.
